About The Near Future Ago

All Artists Welcome

The Near Future Ago started with Kip Westerfield in 2015, a local Bay Area artist. While working in the visual arts in frame shops and galleries, as a framer and gallery assistant, Kip saw a need for developing artists to have a comfortable outlet to show and sell their work to new audiences. He wanted to provide support to those who may have had a difficult time getting their work shown or who just didn't know where to start. There is so much talent in the Bay Area, and very little of it actually gets seen in a gallery setting. Today, The Near Future Ago includes professionals and hobby artists alike.

The goal was to create a fun and casual atmosphere, something less intimidating and more refreshing than the typical formal art gallery show. By including live music and local food, and by throwing shows in all kinds of fun locations like local shops and bars, The Near Future Ago shows draw in visitors and potential buyers from all over the Bay Area.

Support for the artists has always been the number 1 priority, so 100% of all sales go directly to the artist. We charge a small entry fee per piece, which covers rental of the venue, installation equipment and time, and advertising.

How it works

Art Entry Fee- $25/piece

Merch Table- $50

Venmo- @kipwesterfield

Limit 4 pieces per artist

Send Your Info

Email us the titles of your work, photos of each piece, the prices, the mediums, and your full name as well as your Venmo handle and an image of your Venmo QR code. This will allow a buyer to pay you directly and on-the-spot.

A brief bio and your portfolio website is optional. We will provide printed tags for each of your pieces with all of this information. Please also include all of the above information on a piece of paper taped to the back of your art piece upon drop off.

Submit Your Art

Fees are $25 per piece entered in the show, payable by Venmo or cash. Art drop offs are typically a day or two before the show.

Depending on location, booths may be allowed for print and merch sales. Provide your own table, 6' length max.

If artists have any art to be exhibited on the floor on a pedestal, it must be provided by the artist.

Attend the Show

All profit from art sales go directly to YOU the artist. You only pay your entry fee for each piece. We ask that you stay the duration of the show to be available for sales. We will provide stickers to use to mark your pieces as sold. Buyers can take the art they purchased home by the end of the show.

Next Day Art Pickup

Since these are pop-up shows, we have to remove installations the following day and vacate the premises. If you stay for the duration of the show, you may take your art home that night. If not, we will message or email artists with pickup hours for the day after the show (usually a 3-4 hour window).
